All Day Seminar with Michael Mocho
Sunday October 25, 2015
Michael Mocho travelled from his warm home in New Mexico to share his wealth of woodturning knowledge and skills. He made a tour of southwestern Ontario and our Guild was honoured to present him to our members and to the WGO and other area clubs
He is a competent demonstrator who has micro analysed several techniques and gave clear and understandable guidance to our members on many things including the anatomy of a catch, confident use and care of a skew, texturing, chasing treads and other applications. His explanations were thorough and salted with witt and a very droll sense of humour... You had to pay attention!
See below for links to his handouts on Texturing, Threading, and Fundamentals.

Fred Klapp Happy 88th Birthday May 4, 2015
One of our most capable and honoured members celebrated his 88th Birthday on May 5, 2015. Here you see him with his birthday cake and everyone congratulated him.
Over his more than 50 years of turning and woodworking Fred has been a friend to many people and he has been described as following:
Fred is a "giving guy" his shop was always open and welcoming. "Come around and visit and I will show you how to turn flowers, how to use pearlescent paint, how to blend and use veneer in your boxes, how to get rid of your volatile oils and move over to safer watervournefinsihes, how to tap and drill aluminum as you make jugs, how to make delightful unique finials. Come to my place and I will convince you to take up ornmamental turning on my home built rose engine.
Fred was delighted when his work was purchased at the annual meeting by the AAW auctioneer. And of course when his most unusual boxes made the cover of the American Woodturner.
