The Toronto Woodturners Guild (TWG) is dedicated to advancing the art of woodturning through the sharing of ideas and techniques, education and community involvement. Woodturning is the ancient craft of creating objects by using stationary tools while the wood is spinning or "turning" on a lathe. Modern woodturners often create pieces that have artistic merit as well as practical value.

Need wood, anyone?
Come to a TWG meeting and peruse the cornucopia of wood that can be yours for the purchase of a raffle ticket. We are very fortunate to have the support of Brent Ferris, a professional arborist, who regulary brings in truckloads of wood that we raffle off in support of the Guild's activities. Raffle tickets are only $5.00 for three tickets. You are virtually guaranteed to win some wood for your turning projects.
American Association of Woodturners (AAW)
The TWG is a chapter of the AAW, a non-profit organization headquartered in the USA and dedicated to advancing the art and craft of woodturning worldwide. There are many benefits to joining the AAW including receiving their very fine magazine "American Woodturner." Through this group you can follow leading trends, learn to improve your skills, connect with woodturners in other countries. Their annual symposium attracts thousands of attendees. Very importantly, AAW members are covered by the chapter liability insurance that AAW provides to local chapters. We encourage all TWG members to join the AAW.
